The house is located along the coast, and the main considerations are as follows:
1- Humid and rainy tropical climate;
2. Coastal wind speed is high, with emphasis on wind resistance.
3- Coastal saline climate, considering corrosion protection, fire protection, durability
The project is the first production line for Africa's richest man, Mr. DANGOTE, to enter the petrochemical industry, covering an area of about 40 square kilometers.
The total investment of the refinery is expected to be 9 billion US dollars, and the large capacity is expected to process 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
It ranks ninth in the world's total refining and chemical output and first in single capacity.
Products mainly include diesel, gasoline, aviation kerosene, ethylene and other industrial raw materials.
Chengdong Camp provided 40,000 people with a comprehensive set of living, office, hospital, and other ancillary facilities for this project,
including water, electricity, ceiling, ground, fire, furniture, electrical appliances, sanitary ware, communications, cabinets, etc.
The second phase of the Zhiliatangote Refinery project is one of Africa’s most ambitious industrial developments, requiring large-scale worker housing with exceptional safety and performance standards. Chengdong Modular House undertook the design, manufacturing, and installation of a 10,000-person accommodation camp, providing comprehensive housing solutions to support this world-class energy infrastructure project.
The primary function of the camp is to serve as accommodation facilities for project personnel. Given the tropical and coastal environment of the refinery site, the project required buildings with superior anti-corrosion, wind resistance, airtightness, fire protection, and structural safety. Chengdong’s professional expertise in accommodation camp construction ensured that every housing unit met stringent technical and environmental requirements while maintaining rapid installation efficiency.
All living quarters in the camp utilize LZA room types, featuring indoor corridors, complete amenities, and integrated electrical systems. Each unit is equipped with a factory-prefabricated distribution box and internal wiring, simplifying on-site assembly and minimizing installation time. This modular system embodies Chengdong’s design philosophy—safe, efficient, and worker-friendly accommodation camps that deliver comfort even in challenging environments.
In addition to residential buildings, the project includes a fully equipped hospital constructed with Chengdong’s self-developed ZA room frame system. This next-generation structure features a hot-dip galvanized steel frame, offering outstanding corrosion resistance and durability under oceanic and tropical rainforest climates. The wall and roof panels are seamlessly spliced, with the structural frame placed on the interior side for optimal airtightness and sealing performance.
All components are standardized and bolted connections, eliminating the need for on-site welding or painting—reducing pollution, labor demands, and machinery usage. This approach highlights Chengdong’s commitment to sustainable and efficient accommodation camp construction practices.
The project was completed within an impressive 120 days, covering all stages—from raw material procurement and production to packaging, shipment, and installation. Over 70,000 square meters of prefabricated structures were produced and shipped in 395 high-cube 40-foot containers, demonstrating Chengdong’s logistical efficiency and large-scale production capacity.
Upon completion, the accommodation camp was immediately put into use and received high praise from the client, including Africa’s leading business group led by the continent’s wealthiest entrepreneur. The successful delivery of this project not only showcased Chengdong’s global competitiveness but also laid a solid foundation for long-term cooperation with major international partners in Africa and beyond.
The Zhiliatangote Refinery Phase II accommodation camp exemplifies Chengdong’s ability to deliver safe, durable, and high-performance modular housing for industrial megaprojects. By integrating advanced prefabrication technology, sustainable design, and precise project management, Chengdong continues to set new benchmarks in accommodation camp construction—supporting the world’s most demanding engineering and energy developments with excellence and reliability.
