Project Description

Chengdong supplied construction camp buildings for the Egypt Xinfeng Iron & Steel Camp Project in Sokhna Industrial Park, within Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone. The project was carried out from January to April 2026, providing offices, accommodation and dining facilities for construction personnel and project management teams.

Covering a project area of 29,259.51 m², the camp comprised 1,115 modular container units and 9,945.2 m² of ZA prefabricated buildings. Chengdong’s scope included camp planning, design coordination, building supply and on-site installation guidance.

A Modular Construction Camp in Egypt’s Desert Climate

The project location presented a demanding environment for temporary buildings. Intense summer heat, strong sunlight, substantial day-to-night temperature differences and frequent windblown sand made thermal insulation and dust protection important considerations for the camp.

The brief for this modular construction camp in Egypt addressed both working conditions and daily living requirements. Chengdong developed the camp around these needs, combining modular container units and ZA prefabricated buildings to accommodate office, residential and dining functions within two camp areas.

Coordinated Building Supply for Multiple Camp Functions

Chengdong supplied modular container houses alongside ZA prefabricated buildings as part of the overall camp package. The building configuration addressed the different space requirements of offices, accommodation and dining facilities, using both building systems across the development.

Camp planning and building supply were coordinated within the same project scope, allowing design requirements to be carried through from the proposed layout to the buildings delivered for installation.

Office Buildings with Glass Curtain Walls

The office area incorporated glass curtain walls, giving the project management facilities a distinct architectural appearance within the camp. These buildings accommodated the project’s office requirements as part of the wider development, alongside the residential and dining areas.

Modular Accommodation for Construction Workers

The accommodation area included private bathrooms and an integrated floor system designed to improve waterproofing performance. These provisions addressed practical requirements for daily residential use, particularly where bathroom facilities were incorporated into the accommodation units.

The modular accommodation for construction workers combined room provision with attention to bathroom configuration and floor construction. These details formed part of the building supply and supported the camp’s residential requirements.

Design Coordination Through Changing Requirements

The camp design underwent substantial revisions as the client’s requirements developed. Chengdong’s design team maintained communication throughout this process, reviewing proposed changes and translating them into buildable solutions.

This work formed an important part of the project service. Beyond supplying buildings, Chengdong helped align the camp arrangement and building configurations with evolving requirements, keeping design decisions connected to their implementation on site.

On-Site Installation Guidance Through to Handover

Chengdong’s technical personnel remained on site to guide container-building installation. Their responsibilities included technical briefings, oversight of critical installation stages and attention to building integrity, waterproofing and structural safety.

The camp progressed through shipment, installation and handover with coordinated support from the design and site teams. On-site guidance helped carry the agreed building requirements through to the completed facilities and supported successful project delivery.

A Letter of Commendation from the Project Team

Following delivery, the project team sent a letter of commendation recognising Chengdong’s on-site installation guidance personnel. The letter praised their high level of professionalism and strong sense of responsibility throughout the container installation process. It highlighted their close control of critical installation stages, their contribution to building quality and successful project delivery, and the professionalism, reliability and dedication they demonstrated on site.
