For the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Chengdong undertook the construction of over 48,000 m² of K-type prefabricated facilities across 21 competition venues and 27 non-competition venues.
The buildings supported athlete rest areas, vehicle registration centres, catering facilities, media rooms, technical rooms, BOB broadcast facilities, viewing stands and stables. During the preparation period and throughout the Games, the facilities received positive recognition from project stakeholders and the Beijing Organizing Committee, becoming a distinctive feature alongside the venues.

For the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, a large-scale venue-support programme required more than 48,000 m² of prefabricated buildings across 21 competition venues and 27 non-competition venues. The project required an experienced prefabricated accommodation builder able to coordinate building delivery for diverse operational uses across a complex, multi-venue environment.
Chengdong Modular House supplied K-type prefabricated buildings to support event preparation and venue operations. The facilities were distributed across Olympic and Paralympic venue areas and configured around practical working, service and welfare requirements.
The K-type prefabricated building system was deployed across Olympic and Paralympic venue areas to meet a broad range of temporary operational, service and support requirements. Each facility was planned around its intended use, helping create practical spaces for athletes, event personnel, media teams and venue operations.
Applications included:
Athlete Rest Areas: Dedicated rest spaces for athletes during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Vehicle Registration Centres: Operational facilities for vehicle registration and access coordination.
Catering Facilities: Prefabricated buildings for food preparation, service and dining.
Media Rooms: Functional workspaces for media personnel and event communications.
Technical Rooms: Support spaces for technical teams, equipment and venue operations.
BOB Broadcast Facilities: Dedicated rooms supporting broadcast-related operations.
Viewing Stands: Prefabricated viewing structures for event observation.
Stables: Functional stable buildings serving equestrian-event requirements.
This diverse deployment illustrates how K-type prefab buildings can be configured to support different functional requirements within one coordinated, multi-venue project.
Delivering temporary facilities for 21 competition venues and 27 non-competition venues required coordinated planning, consistent building quality and reliable deployment across a large event footprint. The K-type prefabricated structures supported a wide range of venue functions while helping maintain an organized and professional environment around the Games.
During the preparation period and throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Chengdong’s dedicated prefabricated buildings received positive recognition from project stakeholders and the Beijing Organizing Committee. The facilities became a distinctive part of the landscape alongside the venues, demonstrating the practical value of well-planned temporary infrastructure in an international sporting-event setting.
In recognition of this contribution, Chengdong received an honorary certificate for supporting the successful delivery of the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
